Description
The Supermarine Scimitar was a British Naval fighter operating with the Royal Navy throughout the 1950’s and 1960’s. Pioneering new technology in the form of Blown control surfaces and fuel management systems, it’s service life was marred by early landing accidents. It would go on to be replaced by the Sea Vixen in the fighter / interceptor role and the Buccaneer in the attack role. The introduction of the Buccaneer served to give this aircraft a new lease on life as a tanker aircraft to top up the underpowered new aircraft. This livery depicts INI563 of the Indian Navy Fleet Air Arm, 300 Squadron INS Vikrant c1957 if the Scimitar had been purchased by India.
